Sunday afternoon

I love biking. Add a camera to the mix and I'm happy as a clam in the deep blue ocean.

Here are a few things we saw biking in downtown Charleston after church today.

This makes me laugh so hard. And it really makes me think about Angus. I miss him so much!

Escape The Stress Trap

From Girlfriends In God... but good for men, too, imho ;-)

If we would listen carefully, I believe we could hear God say, “If you want to get to know me - really know me – if you want to be intimate with Me,then you have to know my Book!”

The level of stress in my life is directly correlated to the amount of time I spend or don’t spend reading and applying the Word of God.

The truth is that we find a way to do the things in life that are important to us. Have you noticed that we always seem to find the time to eat and sleep? We are driven to work in order to live the good life but we neglect the most important – the only eternal part of our being – our soul. Our soul can only be nourished and fed by the Word of the Living God! How important is God’s word in your life?

Jeremiah 2:32 “Does a maiden forget her jewelry, a bride her wedding ornaments? Yet my people have forgotten me, days without number" (NCV).

A Beautiful Memory

Yesterday Lee and I completed our bike ride just as the sun was setting. There was a cool breeze blowing across the harbor. Walkers, cyclists and boaters were in abundance as we all took advantage of the beautiful weather.

I tried to capture a slice of the sites with my camera. This photo is one of several I took that showcase the stunning scenery and provides me with a beautiful memory.

Seriously?!

Lee and I explored historic downtown Charleston on our bikes this weekend. We had a delightful time taking in the various sights and sounds as we meandered down the streets.

Crossing into one particular neighborhood, I saw a makeshift sign tacked to a telephone pole. The contents of the sign gave me such pause that I had to take a photo.

Seriously?! You have possession of a twin cat - one that looks identical to the missing one - and you are still willing to pay a $1,000 reward?! As I write this hours later, I'm still in awe that someone would pay that much for a missing cat.

What do you think?

Day Three: No Dairy

You may have heard that I've been a vegetarian since the beginning of summer. I have put a lot of thought behind my decision to do this, but the bottom line is that I want to lose weight. And so far it has been working.

It has taken discipline. But it has been fun. A new adventure, so to speak. And goodness knows, I like adventures.

But I hit a plateau and stopped losing. So, using Bill Clinton's recent news (I can't believe I shared that!) as inspiration, I've decided to take it one day at a time and try to leave off dairy.

Today is day three with no dairy and I really haven't missed anything. I've had to be a bit more creative. But the meals I've had the past few days - especially what I created tonight - have been wonderful.

I'm not sure how long this will last. Because frankly, I like cheese. Only time will tell.
